At the turn of the century, New York had 15 floating baths moored along the East and Hudson Rivers. They provided an opportunity for the public to learn how to swim. The city has decided to bring that concept back and has commissioned a barge to be built with a seven-lane swimming pool, dressing rooms, showers and a snack bar.
